If your business is struggling in these unprecedented times support is available.
Job Retention Scheme
Who can claim - Employers paying staff through PAYE
Any employee that works for your business, who is no longer able to carry on working due to the current situation, is eligible to be designated as a ‘furloughed worker’.
This means that, rather than laying them off, you continue to pay them for a period of time, so that they can return to work at a later date, when the situation changes.
What to do
You must formally advise each employee that they are now ‘furloughed’.
You can either continue to pay them their full pay or at a reduced rate of 80% of their normal salary/wages.
They must not carry out any work whilst they are furloughed or they will no longer qualify.
If you haven’t already, you must advise us at which rate you will be paying these workers.
HMRC will be setting up an online system through which the relevant employees information can be declared and funding claimed. Date to be announced when this is up and running.
For each furloughed worker, HRMC will reimburse the employer 80% of their employee’s wages (up to £2,500 per employee) plus any relevant employer’s n.i. and employer’s pension contributions.
It is anticipated that the online scheme will be up and running by the end of April.
